Are you excited? I'm excited.

  1. I have the same e-mail, yay!

...Yet, not being mexican, I bet you don't have a estimated delivery date of July 07, 2011, nor shipping and handling costs added into the mix...But still! This shall be worth it!

On an unrelated manner, did you get to read Starstruck Duck yet? It unleashed my inner fanboy, and how! I'm wondering what words you'd have on that story that never was....

  2. Ouch. That's definitely sub-optimal shipping time.

Haven't read "Starstruck Duck" yet--gonna order the book tonight along with the new US and WDC.

  3. Yes. Yes, I am.

    (...the downplay of the century.)

  5. .

(...Now, if I knew how to use hyperlinks, clicking on that period would have leaded to a Barks' drawing of Donald jumping in enthusiasm. But alas! This explanatory message alone makes me lose. Dangnabit, victories that never were!)

  6. Geo,

What a good week we're in for. In addition to the Gottfredson volume:

    U$ 404
RESCUE RANGERS 7 (since it's going away, I'm going to enjoy it while I can)
    WDC&S 719
WDC&S ARCHIVES vol. 1 (at least, so says ComicList)

  7. For sure--though Boom doesn't list the WDS thing. I'm not convinced they haven't dropped it altogether.

Alas, there's a certain bittersweet quality to this--after this week, there are only TWO more classic issues in the foreseeable future (and DD367 looks to be pretty underwhelming). I know I know, non-disclosure agreements that I don't understand, but still, I really, really wish somebody in the know would say something.

  8. Geo,

Just got back from the store... WDC&S ARCHIVES was there. But it only collected the first TWO issues. I know those early issues were thick, but...! Somehow, I doubt that we're going to get all 350 volumes, if you know what I mean.

The Gottfredson tome wasn't there, unfortunately. Must be a delay on Diamond's end.

  9. My copy of the Gottfredson book came today. It's as pretty as you'd expect.

I'm quite surprised that the WDS book is out; this seems to evince a serious dysfunction on Boom's part, as there's no indication on their website that it's available.

Daan Jippes will make the last DD interesting, but I see what you mean.

But, after that, we’ll close with two issues of “The Treasure of Marco Topo”! (In MM and WDC&S).

It’s kinda fitting that David and I will be there to “turn out the lights” – and, if I do say so myself, I REALLY like the last line of dialogue I wrote for Mickey to close it out.

If it somehow ends up being the last original line of dialogue to be written for Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories, I’d walk away satisfied. Not to make more of it than it actually was, I sorta formulated the line with that purpose in mind!

Joe. (Don't ya miss the "shorter comments"?)

  11. FYI: The preliminary ComicList for 6/8 includes the Gottfredson volume.

  12. And the Gottfredson volume DID, in fact, come out this week. I may have to wait until I return from Daytona Beach (AP Statistics Reading) to finish reading it, however. For now, I will say that the strip reproductions and the text features both look splendid.
