Greetings from Sunny...Casablanca?
Hi, no, we're not dead, nor have we abandoned the blog. Some people know this from facebook or email, but the long and short of it is, we, along with more than a few other people, lost our job in Jakarta because of idiotic bureaucratic government bullshit that had nothing to do with us. Point being: now I'm teaching in Morocco, of all damn places, and I'm still kind of getting settled in. More Barks stuff ought to follow, as well as--for whatever percentage of the readership that cares--a new translation, if I can keep my motivation up.
There are definitely...ups and downs here, compared to my previous job. One of the biggest ups, however, is the fact that you can buy French Disney comics just any ol' place. Sure, I could buy Bahasa Indonesia comics in Jakarta, but given that my Bahasa never progressed beyond the ability to give terse, caveman-like instructions to taxi drivers, that really wasn't much good. It's nice to be in a place where you can regularly read new Disney comics. You know, since their birthplace seems to be a non-starter in that regard...

Now Morocco?
Well, to someone who’s always lived less than 50 miles from New York City, you’re certainly leading an Uncle Scrooge-type life of adventure!
Do take the time to drop in on “Rick’s Café Americain”, and don’t be “shocked… SHOCKED”, should you find that gambling is going on!
I'm pretty certain there's a significant part of your readership that is perfectly content with consulting your articles in silence—that's what I do most of the time. I hardly ever comment, but often come and check on new posts. Your translation efforts, I'm sure, is very appreciated by the community. I myself decided to translate Paperino e i cugini di Ocopoli ("Donald Duck and the Goosetown Kinsmen") in English on the basis of a French translation I own. But it's not exactly proceeding apace...
Best of luck with your new job...you deserve good luck after the Jakarta fiasco. I look forward to Barksian posts. And if you're willing, a post every few months listing your favorite stories from the new French comics would be great. I've decided it's not worth it to me to subscribe to MPG or SPG, given the overall percentage of stories in them that I like. But it would be great to be alerted to particularly good stuff, which my Toronto friend could pick up for me when it appears there, five months after the cover date!
Geo,
At least you will no longer be "living dangerously" when it comes to the bureaucracy in Jakarta.
Are Disney comics in Morocco available in Arabic, as well as French?
Chris
Not that I've seen--I know they from inducks that do (or did?) have Arabic comics in Egypt and maybe other countries (not that I blame them, but inducks is far from comprehensive about countries with less substantial fanbases), but here, we're just talking French (as in, in the French language and also imported from France) numbers.
Your so lucky to have life and a job where you can travel and see such great places :)
